Ret. Captain Stanley L. Carter is a partner, law enforcement specialist and certified advanced Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) practitioner for Carter & Carter Associates; and an adjunct professor for the National Crime Prevention Institute, University of Louisville.
Stan develops and delivers a wide variety of CPTED curriculums; conducts CPTED assessments; and provides associated CPTED consulting services - including working with multi-discipline professional teams, government team building; community participation and expert testimony. He completed 27 years of service with the City of Sarasota’s Police Department where he served in a wide variety of assignments including as a community liaison and long range planning officer to the Chief of Police.
He co-chaired the award winning Administrative CPTED Task Team and participated in long range planning and redevelopment efforts. He has since worked with a variety of communities, organizations and schools to promote public safety through the use of CPTED strategies. He is a graduate of the Southern Police Institute, founding member and past chair of the Florida CPTED Network and a founding member and former director of the International CPTED Association.
