Andrea A. Hamilton, Ph.D.

Dr. Andrea Anderson-Hamilton has, since the 1990s conducted program evaluation, policy analysis, and applied research for nongovernmental organizations, foundations, and civic leadership groups. She specializes in a theory-driven approach to evaluation, strategic planning and organizational development for community development programs and initiatives. Her nine year tenure at the Aspen Institute Roundtable on Community Change was devoted to the development of tools and methodologies for articulating theories of change for planning and evaluation.

She authored one of the key reference monographs in the field, The Community Builder’s Approach to Theory of Change: A practical guide to theory development. In addition to her primary focus on work centered on the Theory of Change Approach, Dr. Anderson-Hamilton has developed curricula and training materials that have built the capacity of civic and non-profit leaders to apply a “structural racism lens” to work designed to reduce racial disparities in health, education, employment and asset development.
