Seema Shah, JD, Esq.

Seema Shah is a social justice entrepreneur consultant who applies her expertise to generate ideas, facilitate partnership and collaboration opportunities, and create and execute strategy to achieve desired purpose and outcomes. She provides customized services which include but are not limited to helping develop and implement strategies for the realization of inclusive lived experiences in schools, workplaces, community settings, as well as in personal relationships and family-based settings, in addition to the rights-based transitioning from education to employment settings, from health care settings to community settings and across cultures.

A style characterized by empathy, compassion, empowerment and advocacy, Seema brings a practical, collaborative, interdisciplinary, international perspective to her work and relationships and the ability to customize her approach to different businesses and personalities. Seema has over eight years experience through her work with global Canadian and American financial institutions in the areas of capital markets and wealth management. She has serviced high net worth individuals, corporations, funds, trusts, financial institutions, government and non-profit clientele across industries and spanning the globe from a client onboarding perspective.

Seema holds a Juris Doctor degree from Osgoode Hall Law School in Toronto, Canada and an Honours Bachelor of Commerce degree with a minor in Health Studies from McMaster University in Hamilton, Canada where she graduated summa cum laude. She was called to the Ontario Bar in 2008 and is an alumnus of the Women’s Executive Network in Canada. 

An internationally acclaimed professional, Seema has championed human diversity and development, inclusion and disability rights by developing partnerships and collaborations with diverse organizations to support specific initiatives furthering systemic legal and social change. She has played leading roles in advancing the initiatives of prominent organizations including the Women’s Legal Education Action Fund, the Hospital for Sick Children, Women’s College Hospital, the Canadian Committee for the United Nations Development Fund for Women, Disability Rights Promotion International and a Toronto-based rent geared to income housing organization. She has provided legal representation to persons facing serious illness, violence and marginalization.

Well-versed in the customized needs and value proposition of various audiences, she has helped organize as well as presented at international conferences in the areas of e-commerce, intellectual capital, corporate governance, women’s health and disability and diversity. She has participated in invitation-only national conferences hosted by the Office of the Governor General of Canada to shape national agendas with top thought leaders and practitioners and promote the exchange of ideas with key organizations across the banking, legal and non-profit sectors. She has chaired Associate and Advocate-level sponsored corporate tables of prominent professional women in capital markets and women in wealth management.  

Founder of the Personability Model and the Personability Projects, Seema Shah has been recognized by the Government of Canada with the 27th Annual Governor General’s Award in Commemoration of the Persons Case for advancing the status of women of color with disabilities in Canada and was granted Alien of Extraordinary Abilities status by the United States of America.
