Lyle Harris

Lyle V. Harris is an Atlanta-based public relations professional and longtime journalist who has specialized in the integrative principles and practices of New Urbanism across several disciplines including transportation, housing and land use.

Lyle is responsible for strategic communications, developing and maintaining relations with media outlets and providing on-the-record interviews as the chief spokesperson for the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) which is the ninth largest transit agency in the country and the largest bus-and-rail system in the southeast United States.  He also helps MARTA forge and strengthen relationships with various agencies and organizations that are committed to “smart growth” principles.

Over several years Lyle has designed and implemented communications plans for clients as well as providing editorial services to support their core businesses.  He earned a reputation for crafting unconventional public relations and marketing campaigns that garnered invaluable earned media attention and accolades.  His forte is organizing teams of professionals who possess relevant expertise and experience across a broad range of fields.

Earlier in his career, Lyle worked as a full-time journalist for 25 years. For 18 years, he served as a reporter, columnist, critic and editorial board writer for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Prior to that, he worked as a prize-winning reporter for major daily newspapers including The Record of New Jersey and the Washington Post.
