Peter Ivan Armstrong, III

Peter Ivan Armstrong, III is an experienced leader in strategic communications, academic and professional development, and nonprofit management. Since the mid-1980s He has directed project and program at organizations in the public, private, and nonprofit sectors.

Mr. Armstrong possesses broad experience in the design, execution, and evaluation of programs for community development, organizational communications, and leadership training. His expertise includes presentation design, public and media relations, policy analysis, grant writing and management, community outreach, and volunteer training.

He has served as executive director of the Cobb Alcohol Taskforce, a community organization that works to reduce underage drinking. He has also served as a director or manager for programs at the Georgia Budget and Policy Institute, United Way for the Greater New Orleans Area, Harvard University, the Housing Authority of New Orleans, Dillard University, and Hands On Atlanta.

Mr. Armstrong is regularly sought for his skills and entertaining qualities as a public speaking instructor and presenter. His topics include training in “The Elevator Script,” connections between effective language and effective leadership, SWOT analysis, and building effective relationships between institutional organizations (such as colleges and universities) and the communities who host them.

In addition to positions in communications, design, and community development, Mr. Armstrong has been an educator since the early 1990s. His teaching appointments include Georgia Perimeter College, Strayer University, Georgia Institute of Technology, the Art Institute of Atlanta, Lesley University, Delgado Community College, and Harvard University, where he was a faculty member in the Division of Continuing Education for over ten years. His guest lectures and presentations have included Atlanta Public Schools, Cobb County Schools, Georgia Gwinnett College, Georgia State University, Morehouse College, and Spelman College.

Mr. Armstrong earned a bachelors degree in Visual Studies from Harvard College; a masters degree in human development and media from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, and a masters degree in public administration from the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University, concentrating in Leadership and Nonprofit Management.

Peter Armstrong is a native of New Orleans, Louisiana; a resident of Atlanta, Georgia; and a frequent business traveler to Boston, Massachusetts.
