Leah Berger Jensen, MPH is principal and owner of The Berger Group, LLC, a consulting firm dedicated to improving the health of communities. The Berger Group offers a range of expertise in three areas: 1) Clinical Sites & Community Health Centers, 2) Public Health & Community Health, and 3) Leadership & Organizational Development, all based in a framework grounded in healthy equity, collective impact, capacity building, and social justice. Clients include Federally Qualified Health Centers, national health system networks, non-profit organizations, statewide foundations, charter school organizations, civic organizations, and private for-profit businesses.

The Berger Group was s elected to participate as a scholar for the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program, a national program that provides skills to business owners to grow their business. Ms. Jensen is a Certified Emergenetics Associate, which expands The Berger Group’s offering in Leadership & Organizational Development services. This certification allows the firm to provide leadership and communication seminars, workshops, and one-on-one coaching to a diverse range of industries, both for-profit and non-profit, and uses this Emergenetics profile tool to enhance productivity so that businesses can operate at their highest potential.

Ms. Jensen has ten plus years experience working in the Greater New Orleans area, and additional years of international experience in Kenya, Senegal, Ghana, and Thailand. Prior to The Berger Group, Ms. Jensen worked at Tulane University School of Medicine (TUSOM) for seven years where her efforts led to the founding of TUSOM’s Office of Community Affairs and Health Policy and served as the Office’s Executive Director. In this role she empowered communities and increased access to care through program planning, development, research, advocacy and capacity building in a sustainable, culturally appropriate, effective manner. Ms. Jensen concurrently served as Co-Executive Director of the Ruth U. Fertel/Tulane Community Health Center, a clinic dedicated to providing high-quality, cost-effective care to under-resourced and uninsured families. She designed, funded and developed this facility, as well as three other clinics in the region, including a clinic tailored for a Vietnamese-American population and a mobile medical unit.

In August 2014, Ms. Jensen was selected as one of New Orleans’ CityBusiness “Women of the Year”, an honor highlighting professional and community achievements. Ms. Jensen has chaired the Louisiana Mobile Health Coalition, a resource-sharing collaborative and received the “Mobile Health Leadership Award” in 2010 from the national Mobile Health Clinics Network. She was chosen to sit on the Advisory Committee for Louisiana Healthcare Connections and asked to serve as Co-Chair for ELES4Africa Conference in 2013. She has served on the board of Broad Community Connections and was the Chair for the Health Outcomes Committee. Ms. Jensen was selected as part of the 2010-2011class for NORLI (New Orleans Regional Leadership Institute), and has chaired the NORLI Program Planning Health Committee in 2012, 2013, and 2014.

She was selected as New Orleans' “Top 40 Under 40” in 2009, an honor recognizing New Orleans' outstanding achievers, chosen as one of the nation’s  “100 Great Disruptive Heroes” in 2012 by Hacking Work: Business Innovation  for her pioneering work in the health care delivery system.

Ms. Jensen received her Bachelor of Arts from Connecticut College in both Cultural Anthropology and Gender and Women Studies. She received her Master of Public Health from Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine in 2004 with a focus in International Health and Development.
