Sevetri M. Wilson

It was Sevetri Wilson’s passion for working with the community and charitable organizations that led her in 2009 to become the founder and CEO of Solid Ground Innovations, LLC. Originally established as a consulting and management firm focused on sports philanthropy, community organizing, and non-profit management, the firm has since expanded into a full service firm that provides “a la carte”, part-time and full-time professional management and consulting services in the areas of Public Relations, Marketing, Branding, Non-Profit Management, and Consulting.
A native of Louisiana, Sevetri was born and raised in Hammond, attended Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge (where her company is based) and now lives in New Orleans.
In 2008, she graduated from LSU with a dual B A in mass communications and history, and went on in 2010 to receive a master’s in history, with a concentration in U.S. history.
Sevetri holds a certification in non-profit management from Louisiana State University-Shreveport, and is certified by the Louisiana Economic Development (LED) and the National Grant Writer’s Association as a certified grant writer.
Along with her academic qualifications, Sevetri is also a member of several local and national organizations connected with two things that she finds very hard to separate – her work and her outside interests. She is a member of: Louisiana Association of Nonprofit Organizations (LANO), National Association of Black Journalist (NABJ), The National Grant Writers Association, The Chamber of Commerce, and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., an organization whose work she holds in the highest esteem, and serves on several Boards.
In 2010, Sevetri received recognition for her efforts in the form of a proclamation from New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu, and was recognized by the U.S. Senate for her work on behalf of first generation college students. In the same year, a program she created for one of her clients received the Jefferson Award a “Nobel Prize for Public and Community Service.” Her work was also featured in the National Report on Volunteerism and Public Service to the U.S. Senate and White House.
Other achievements she is particularly proud of include her selection in 2004 as one of the 1000 Scholars of the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation in which she later served as an ambassador to the foundation, her UNCF and Ronald E. McNair Scholarships among a few others, and serving as an AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) member.
Before starting her own company, Sevetri was employed by the Baton Rouge Speech and Hearing Foundation, and Louisiana CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) where she developed strategies and programs to secure funding and partnerships for the longevity of both organizations.
Sevetri’s work has been recognized in well known publications such as USA Today, Wall Street Journal, CNN and ESPN, and her personal accomplishments have been featured locally in 225 magazine and Baton Rouge Business Report. Her most recent venture was the opening of her company’s new office in downtown Baton Rouge, in the office space formerly occupied by the Downtown Development District. Sevetri is an accomplished musician having won several music awards over the span of 20 year’s, and in her free time enjoys volunteering, motivational speaking, reading and writing.
