Stephen Phillippi, Ph.D.

Stephen Phillippi received his PhD from Louisiana State University. Dr. Phillippi is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Clinically Certified Forensic Counselor.

Since the early 1990s Stephen has been, managing, evaluating, and providing direct care services. In his current role with the LSU Health Sciences Center- School of Public Health, Dr. Phillippi is faculty with the Behavioral Community Health Sciences program and a founding team member of the Institute for Public Health and Justice working on a MacArthur Foundation grant to bring evidence-based practices to local communities as part of the Louisiana Models for Change initiative.

Dr. Phillippi is also the PI on two Tides Foundation funded studies assessing the impact of an alternative education intervention and a public defense team model on youth who are at higher risk of incarceration, homelessness, suicide, violence, and school dropout. In addition to these activities, Dr. Phillippi teaches, performs research, writes, consults, participates in a number of professional and public service boards, and maintains a small private clinical practice.
