Tess Monaghan

Tess Monaghan came to New Orleans in 2008 to take on the role of Executive Director of Build Now, a non-profit organization building new, elevated homes in New Orleans' flooded neighborhoods. She grew up in New York City but visited her grandparents in New Orleans frequently and felt a strong attachment to the city from a young age. After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts from Yale University, she honed her business skills as a consultant at Bain & Company in New York City. There, she developed expertise in the packaged food and beverage industry and designed a market share tracking tool for a financial services company.

Tess oversaw Build Now's operations and advocated for New Orleans' displaced homeowners. Having seen Build Now grow from little more than a concept to a major contributor to New Orleans' rebuilding landscape, with more than 50 homes completed or under construction, she recently stepped down from her role as Executive Director. In the fall of 2011 she co-founded PPX New Orleans, a food business focused on sourcing fresh, local ingredients.
